Bill Mattison and Paul Krueger have over forty years of Skeeter Class ice boat building experience and have been at the forefront of Skeeter development. E Skeeters are the fastest ice boats in the world and have few design limitations except for a requirement that the sails be 75 square feet.

Start of the Building Season

Bill is fixing an A-Scow...something about a committee boat in reverse?
Meanwhile, Paul is working on new spar for next winter. (Too much sailing this winter?)

Ron Rosten sent these photos taken on Labor Day weekend when Paul's plank was under vacuum.

"PK may view the Wisconsin Inn as a culinary delight, but Bill shows he thinks otherwise."

This photo collage was on the wall of Sunnyside Resort
on Lake Kegonsa for many years. The Vick family recently
sold Sunnyside and the new owners are remodeling the
bar and restaurant. Thankfully, the Vicks made sure the
photos went to long-time 4LIYC members Dave and
Nancy Nelson. Looks the photos have found a home down
at the Willy St. Boat Shop.

Here's the last part of Bill's Skeeter to be painted red.

Still making battens.

The name is on.

With the hulls in paint, it's time to work on the runner plank and springboard.

Eight feet of carbon battens,
measuring width-wise!

Here's a shot that illustrates the difference between the old 24' spars
and Bill's 26' 8" spar; and the old and new hulls.

Sporting the traditional Madison colors, Paul's boat is red and white again thanks to a great paint job by Ken Whitehorse. Bill's boat received a new rear bulkhead at the cockpit.

June 26, 2004
Official Start of the 2004-2005 Season
The days are getting shorter, the A Scow is on the lake, and the ice boats are back on the table at the Willy St. Boat Shop.

At least Bill doesn't have to
repaint his boat.

Bill's Skeeter

Start of a spar for Bill

It is the weekend, no ice for Skeeters, his fastback Skeeter is finished,
and Paul is looking for something to do.....

Geoff writes, "Here are a couple of shots of Bill's new Skeeter, taken after Bill,
Paul, Doug Kolner, and I glued the sides on.  I didn't count the clamps,
but I can say there wasn't an unused clamp in the shop (including spring
clamps!)."

Doug Kolner looks on.
